A Time to Rock is a thought-provoking story about time travel with many twists and turns.  The two main characters are Freddie, the lead singer of the rock band, Barracuda, and Emily, a college sophomore who is trying to make a name for herself at her college newspaper.  The story begins in September, 1973.  Freddie and Emily meet when Emily is posing as a groupie of the band.  Emily gets caught recording a conversation about a crime committed by one of the band members.  Freddie, knowing that Emily is in danger, helps her escape.  They jump in his Barracuda and drive down the interstate until they encounter a blue curtain and a bright flash of light.  This is where the story really gets interesting.  By some unknown anomaly,  they are transported to September 2017, and have lost 44 years of their lives.  This leaves the reader with many questions:  What was the blue light?  How were they transported to another time?  How does this affect their lives?   I loved how the author described the differences in time that Freddie and Emily experienced; such as what is the small, rectangular thing that everyone keeps looking at in their hands, and why is there no key to the hotel door, only a small card?  This book kept me guessing until the very end.  In fact, the ending was quite a surprise and not what I expected.  The only thing I didn’t like was I felt there were too many minor characters that did not contribute to the story.   A Time to Rock is an exciting read that kept me engaged until the very end.  This book would make for good group discussion for a book club.

Good light reading, made me think about the changes I have experienced in how far technology has come. The formatting makes this book easy to read, beautiful cover and interesting characters. I am looking forward to reading Pete’s other books.

Pete - I really enjoyed “Time To Rock” - I was immediately drawn in from the first page and was reluctant to put it down when I had to attend to other matters! The storyline was intriguing; I’ve read other materials about traveling back in time, so going in to the future made your book all the more interesting (by the way, I enjoyed your “Future Shock” blog - so relatable!). The characters in “Time To Rock” were well-developed and the scientific information was written in layman’s terms and seemed quite plausible - who knows?!! I particularly enjoyed your Virginia references as that portion all took place where I grew up - you even gave the dog the name of our family beagle!! I must admit the ending was a bit sad with the deaths of “Skipper”, “Sheryl”, and, of course “Freddie”, but it made it more realistic that not everyone came out of the event unscathed.
You are a true talent and I can’t wait to read “Dragon Children”!

I finally finished the book! I only had a few pages to go when I read Gail's review. A lot could happen in a few pages! It took me longer to read than it would normally because I had a lot of other reading to do and other things too. But, I remembered the storyline as soon as I picked it up again. It felt so real to me that sometimes when I was thinking of the events, I would forget that they were from the book! I enjoyed it very much! Worth the purchase!
