Is Everything a Lie?

A few weeks ago, there was a story about a crack in the support of a roller coaster at the Carowinds theme park. The roller coaster was shutdown and work is underway. My question is, was this warning a lie? Was there really a danger to human life? The obvious answer is yes, of course it is true, and yes it was a danger to human life. Why, it hadn’t killed anyone yet. Why should someone assume that it will kill them if they ride it? Maybe the owners of Carowinds don’t support the government’s woke agenda and this is a way to make them lose business. Maybe it is the clear picture of the crack that makes people believe in the danger. So, we can agree this is one news story that is not a lie.

Now it is hurricane season. The meteorologists are calling for a strong season, but here we are in August and the ocean has been very quiet. This makes their predictions look silly. There is no information that can be offered right now that will convince people that we are in for some big storms. In fact, in my opinion, the more the press hypes about each minor disturbance in the ocean, the less people are going to pay attention. I tend to ignore stories of possible forming of a tropical depression, or spots in the ocean that may or may not be ready to form a tropical system. Are the meteorologists telling us lies, no they are not. The problem is the media wants a story and they jump on this information far too early. This tends to desensitize all of us to reports of possible tropical storms. We don’t need to know until there is a storm, and the storm will make landfall somewhere. The media isn’t telling lies, it is hyping weather information for a story. There is no political agenda, just a profit-driven one.

I do not believe the media lies to us all the time. I do believe politically driven media like MSMBC and FOX will spin every event to support the political notions of their viewer base. Their job seems to be to tell them what they want to hear. However, in general, the media is not trying to control us. Even MSNBC and FOX don’t do it for political gain, they do it for profit. Not everything we see and hear is a lie.

However, in the future, I am afraid we will not be able to tell the difference. AI is already creating videos that can put anyone, anywhere, doing anything. It is something that seems to be very easy to weaponize.
