Malice

Here I go again, trying to bring people off the political fringes and back to a place where we can talk.

I heard an old rock song, by Alice Cooper no less. It is called “Malice.” It, of course, is in the classic Alice Cooper style. He personifies Malice as an evil demon that influences people to lash out.

It made me think that is just what is happening to the people who have moved to the far end of the political spectrum. They let themselves to be polarized to the point that they believe that they are right and anyone that disagrees is an enemy that must be destroyed.

If you listen to that song, you might see the demon Malice in some of the people that are rousing you to battle. Ask yourself, who benefits from the chaos that is being created. Is it America, or is it its adversaries? Does America benefit from pitting one economic class against another, or is it the super-rich? Is it America that benefits from polarizing ethic groups and hating people for where they are born, or is it politicians playing on your fear to gain power?

When you oppose the scientist, the meteorologists, the government, the teachers, the media, and anyone that questions your leaders’ words, you should at least ask why. You should at least ask for details. You should ask why are all these people wrong, and can’t issues be discussed? Is the only answer hatred? If people think hatred in the only answer, then I do believe the demon Malice has done its work.
