Social Media Memes are Entertainment and Nothing More

Let’s take a breath a look at the memes that are presented to us on social media. The first thing that we all should realize is that you can dig up information to support any opinion if you have the resources. Meme generators have people whose only job is to find people and information that supports whatever cause is paying them, and now with AI, it is even easier to do.

There are millions of scientists in the world. You can find one that will claim the there is no climate change, or that the world is flat. Some will do it because they believe it, others for financial incentives. You can find people that will swear they saw Hunter Biden talking to aliens, or Donald Trump burning down a preschool.

Weather people believe it or not, their best source of information is still from real journalists that have people doing fact checking and know how to get to the real story. Yes, there are ones that work for opinion houses and not news reporters, but there are still reporters that are trying to get the real story.

Someone just blurting out a statement on social media is not a source of information, they are entertainment and nothing more. They are there for you to cheer the ones that support your opinion or to condemn if they support an opposite opinion.

We have been trained since the inception of social media to take a hard line when it comes to our opinions. Our opinion is righteous, and all others are evil. We need to realize that that is not so. No opinion should be held so close that it is above questions, and we all should be ready to change our opinion when presented with enough evidence.

The hard part is determining when you are getting real evidence. Social media is the last place you will find real evidence.
